Jennifer Lawrence stocks mansion with budget furniture

Written by . Published: November 12 2014

Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence refuses to buy pricey furniture for her luxury mansion in California, and is stocking it with homeware from retail giant IKEA instead.

The Hunger Games star paid $8 million for the plush property in a Beverly Hills enclave, but she was appalled by the cost of furnishing her new home.

Lawrence instead headed to IKEA, where she bought an inexpensive couch, and she is now determined not to give any of Los Angeles' luxury goods stores her money.

She tells Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper, "I bought one (a couch) from Ikea. It was a temper tantrum but it looks great. It doesn't matter how much money I make, unfairness in prices really fires me up... Like shopping in L.A. and a T-shirt costs $150."
