Jennette McCurdy's show on hiatus after Nickelodeon feud

Jennette Mccurdy's teen TV series Sam & Cat is to be put on hiatus amid rumours of a feud with Nickelodeon bosses.

The actress was missing from the network's Kids' Choice Awards on Saturday (29Mar14) and she later blamed her absence on "unfair treatment" by her bosses, adding that she was put in an "uncomfortable, compromising, unfair situation".

McCurdy did not give any further details about the dispute, but it has now emerged that the show, which co-stars Ariana Grande, is going on hiatus to give the tired cast and crew a break.

A statement from Nickelodeon reads, "We are wrapping up what was an unusually long production cycle of Sam & Cat, and everyone is understandably tired. We are going into our production hiatus next week which will give everyone on the show a much needed rest."

Network bosses have also moved to dismiss rumours of a feud with McCurdy over a set of racy pictures of the star in her underwear which emerged online last month (Mar14).

A Nickelodeon representative tells the New York Daily News, "The photos caused no issues between McCurdy and the network, and we have the utmost respect for her."
