Jay-Z visits the real Magna Carta
Jay-Z has visited Salisbury Cathedral in England to see the ancient document his latest album Magna Carta Holy Grail is named after.
The hip-hop star turned up unannounced at the historic church to take a look at the world-famous Magna Carta, the 13th century charter of English rights, on Sunday (14Jul13) before his set at the Wireless festival in London later that evening.
The 99 Problems hitmaker posed for snaps in front of the document
before spending an hour touring the building with June Osborne, the
Dean of Salisbury.
June Osborne tells The Sun, "It was great to welcome Jay-Z to
Salisbury Cathedral. He was clearly moved by seeing the original
Magna Carta. He was a delightful guest and we discussed the work we
seek to do here (at the cathedral) to further the cause of social
justice. I think (his visit) might have surprised some of the
visitors."
