Jay Z eyes investment in David Beckham's soccer franchise
Rap superstar Jay Z is reportedly interested in investing in David Beckham's new soccer franchise.
Beckham is currently attempting to get a Miami, Florida team off the ground and he is said to have invested $100 million of his own money into the new Major League Soccer venture.
According to Britain's Daily Star newspaper, Jay Z believes it
would be "exciting" to work with the British sportsman and is
adamant that if he were to branch out into soccer investment,
Beckham would be the person he would want to collaborate with.
The Empire State of Mind hitmaker, a former co-owner of New York
basketball team the Brooklyn Nets, is quoted as saying, "Everybody
knows my passion for sports and people know that I am not just a
fan, but an investor.
"I have never really thought about investing in a soccer franchise
but if anybody is going to get me to invest it's going to be David.
I hope he gets everything sorted to get this franchise off the
ground. If he wants investment, we are good friends, he has my
number. I trust David. It would be exciting going into business
with him."
The news comes four months after Jay Z and his wife Beyonce joined
Beckham in the stands to watch his old side, Paris Saint-Germain,
beat Barcelona 3-2 at the Parc des Princes stadium in the French
capital in September (14).
