Jason Derulo cancels tour following neck injury
R&B singer Jason Derulo has been forced to cancel his upcoming tour after fracturing a vertebrae in his neck.
The Whatcha Say hitmaker sustained the injury while practising a high-energy routine for the shows on Tuesday (02Jan12).
He fell on his head and was rushed to hospital in Miami, Florida,
where doctors reportedly told him he was lucky not to have been
left paralyzed.
Soon after the accident, Derulo posted a picture of himself
sporting a neck brace on Twitter.com, alongside the words, "I
fractured my neck doing tumbling & acrobatics 4 (sic) tour! Always
tryin 2 (sic) push boundaries 4 you! Like my new chain?"
However, despite his upbeat tweet, the singer has now axed his
entire tour, which was due to start next month (Feb12), to give
himself time to recover.
A statement reads, "To all my fans who planned to come to the
Future History world tour, the pain of letting you down cuts me way
deeper than this injury I've sustained.
"My fans mean everything to me, so I'm praying for a speedy
recovery in order to perform for you in the near future."
Derulo has since been released from the medical facility and
ordered to wear the neck brace over the next few months.
