Jared Leto to document Americans' 4th July holiday with new film project

Jared Leto and his 30 Seconds To Mars bandmates are to document how thousands of Americans spend their 4th July holiday.

Jared and his bandmates have commissioned film crews to head to all 50 states and Puerto Rico to document how people celebrate America's Independence Day.

The group are also encouraging fans to send in their own footage of themselves enjoying the holiday for the project, titled A Day in the Life of America.

"It's an incredibly important time in our country and we are excited for people to film what they feel is important, impactful, challenging or inspiring," Jared said in a press release announcing the project. "Whether it's a single shot, a person, an event, or a story - we want to see your America."

The 45-year-old Suicide Squad actor explained that he and his bandmates wanted to capture "America in all its imperfect glory and epic beauty."

Revealing the kind of material they were looking for fans to send in he added, "The birth of a child, the end of a life, the sunset, the sunrise, politicians, immigrants, a sky diver, a firefighter, heroes and villains, and every race, color and creed that make up the fabric of our nation. And of course - celebration and fireworks."

In an interview with Variety the Oscar-winning actor and musician explained he and his fellow 30 Seconds to Mars' bandmates were inspired to pursue the project by America's current political turmoil.

"It's an incredibly important time and I couldn't think of a better time to create a portrait of America than the one we're in now," he explained. "It's a time filled with imbalance and uncertainty."

Americans are bitterly divided in their opinions of current President Donald Trump, who defeated his opponent Hillary Clinton in a shock election win last year (16).
