James Franco remembers childhood hiking holidays for hotel promo
James Franco has recorded a new promotional video for Yosemite National Park's fabled Ahwahnee hotel in California, where he spent family hiking holidays as a boy.
The 127 Hours star spent New Year's Eve (31Dec13) at the historic lodge, while he was filming new movie Yosemite, and he agreed to reminisce about his memories of the old place on camera.
In the short film, which appears on the hotel's website, Franco
says, "This is the place I used to come to with my brother and my
father when we were young. I grew up in Palo Alto, California, and
we'd drive out here... and we'd usually arrive late at night.
"It's one of the best memories I have of youth and being with my
family... I'm still surprised at how beautiful it still is...
Coming in, there's nothing like driving in the middle of Half Dome
(popular Yosemite tourist attraction and hiking destination)...
"I'm just here to say I love this place, I'm so happy to be here
and I'm glad that it's part of my own personal history."
