Jaden Smith's girlfriend Sarah Snyder cleared of felony grand larceny charge

Jaden Smith's model girlfriend Sarah Snyder is breathing a sigh of relief after she was cleared of stealing a designer handbag from a New York boutique.

The 19-year-old was arrested in June (15) and slapped with a felony charge of grand larceny amid allegations she had swiped a Hermes Birkin bag, worth almost $16,000 , from the Penny Pinchers store in Bedford four months earlier (Feb15).

She denied the accusations and appeared in a Big Apple court on Wednesday (10Feb16), when she provided evidence to prove she had been in Florida visiting her father at the time of the alleged crime.

The charge was subsequently dismissed, and now Sarah has opened up about the lengthy ordeal in a candid post for HarpersBazaar.com.

In the piece, the pretty blonde reveals she looks nothing like the woman police had initially identified as their main suspect and she can't believe the case took so long to resolve - especially as she had witness statements and phone and credit card records to back up her story.

Sarah goes on to brand the whole situation "crazy", insisting the unfounded allegations have cost her lucrative modeling work and damaged her reputation: "I've gotten so much hate from this," she wrote. "My reputation is so bad now. I know a lot of companies haven't worked with me because of this situation. I lost a recent fashion magazine editorial. The bigger companies are like, 'No, that's going to make us look bad.' I have been through so much for something I didn't do."

The teenager hopes the dismissal of the charge will help her rebuild her fledgling career and restore her good name.

"I'm just happy that people know the truth and know that I didn't do it," she continued. "It was satisfying to know that they (prosecutors) admitted that they were wrong. All the prejudice against me will hopefully evaporate because the courts confirmed I was in Florida. I have been through so much s**t this past year. I'm just glad it's over."

Sarah put the legal drama behind her on Thursday (11Feb16) and accompanied her actor/rapper boyfriend Jaden, son of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, to Kanye West's Yeezy Season 3 fashion and album listening show at Madison Square Garden as part of New York Fashion Week.
