The suit worn by Michael Jackson at the 1986 American Music Awards is to go up for auction.

The military-inspired outfit, featuring a gold belt and shoulder strap, was worn by the King of Pop on stage at the event during a performance of We Are The World, the song he co-wrote with Lionel Richie in aid of African famine relief in 1985.

Michael had the suit made by Hollywood design house Western Costume and it features his name, waist and chest size stamped on labels sewn into the jacket and trousers.

The costume will go on sale at Nate D. Sanders Auctions on 29 October (15), with bidding opening at $50,000.

Earlier this year (Jul15), a rare sequinned glove made famous by the Billie Jean singer sold for $64,850.
