Gigi Hadid doesn't want to embarrass Zayn Malik if he wins American Music Award

Zayn Malik's supermodel girlfriend Gigi Hadid is hoping she won't embarrass the singer if he wins an American Music Award while she's hosting the show.

The 21-year-old, who will team up with comedian Jay Pharaoh to present the bash at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on 20 November (16), is rooting for her man, who is nominated in the New Artist of the Year category. She only hopes she doesn't cause him any blushes.

"To be the winner's girlfriend, you don't want to embarrass them, but you also want to be super excited for them," she tells Billboard. "I'm just going to try and not be the embarrassing girlfriend. That's my goal."

Gigi is excited about co-hosting the event with Jay, but admits she is really worried she'll mess up.

"If I'm nervous until rehearsal, that's good, and if I'm nervous after rehearsal, I don't know if that's as good," she says. "I usually just try and have a good rehearsal and have it be positive and fun, but also get out the kinks that you're worried about, because then you can just have fun. It also moves so quickly once the show starts that you just have to know what you're doing."

Meanwhile, Gigi still can't decide what to wear for the big night, adding, "I'm inspired once I see the clothes. I think it's very important to go with what makes you excited at first. I think what you're drawn to is usually what will make you feel good... I want to do as many outfits as I can that I think will be a crowd-pleaser."

The show will feature performances from The Weeknd, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj, Shawn Mendes, John Legend, Lady Gaga, Green Day, Bruno Mars, and Twenty One Pilots, while Sting, the 2016 American Music Award of Merit honoree, will make his debut on the AMAs stage.
