Gerard Butler has destroyed the myth that Hollywood hunks can easily score dates - insisting his love life is pretty miserable.

The 300 star has gained a tabloid reputation as a ladies' man after he was linked to a string of beautiful women, including actresses Jennifer Aniston and Cameron Diaz.But he insists it's a struggle to find suitable female companions since being thrust into the limelight as a successful actor.Butler says, Love is something that I've definitely felt a couple of times. It never worked out, it made me nuts, but I absolutely want to experience it again. And it's about f**king time!I've definitely had lots of fun. Now I'm more serious about things - I don't mess around anywhere near like I used to. It was a lot more fun when I was under the radar. Now going on a date is going to be well publicised. I would be lying if I said my love life is amazing at the moment. It's actually pretty miserable.
