Future: 'I'm connected to Ciara for life'

Rapper Future has put any bad blood with ex-fiancee Ciara behind him, insisting he and the singer are connected "for life".

The 32-year-old's engagement to the I Bet star came to an end in August 2014, just three months after the birth of their son, Future Zahir.

The former couple became absorbed in a war of words and Ciara, 30, launched a $15 million defamation lawsuit against Future in February (16), accusing him of knowingly making false and defamatory statements about her parenting skills on social media.

Future hit back with his own lawsuit, in which he suggested Ciara's fame had been declining in recent years and her last album, Jackie, was a flop.

The rap star has since had a change of heart and earlier this month (Jun16) website Sandrarose.com reported he had asked the judge overseeing their legal spat to dismiss his case against his ex, and in a new interview with Rolling Stone, he insists he has no ill will towards her.

"Ciara being successful, her being happy, helps me," he said, before addressing the singer directly, adding, "I’m attached to you. If you’re happy, I’m happy. You’re connected for life. I don’t want you to go through this s**t and for it to come back on my son, my kid. I want you to be in the best situation.”

Future went on to explain how hard the split was for him, coming just before the release of his sophomore album, Honest, which failed to set the charts a light.

"I was scared as s**t," he says. "I was one step away from being married, and I feel like I failed publicly in relationships. Then you want to go back to doing music, to what you know, and if the people didn’t accept you again, the one thing you feel like you can fall back on, it walked away from you. You feel like it’s over.”

Ciara is now engaged to Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.
