fun. star Nate Ruess feared the band would have to pull out of a planned performance at the Grammy Nominations Concert on Wednesday night (05Dec12) because he spent days battling "vocal problems".
The pop band is among the acts leading the Grammy Awards short-list after scoring nods in three categories, and they were asked to perform their Record of the Year contender We Are Young at the live announcement event in Nashville, Tennessee.
They took to the stage to play their hit song with collaborator Janelle Monae as planned, but frontman Ruess admits the performance nearly didn't happen.
He tells Billboard.com, "Last week, we had some vocal problems, and really wanted to give it our all tonight. Fortunately, my voice worked."
