Example axes Scottish gig

Written by . Published: January 31 2013

British rapper Example has scrapped a gig in Scotland just weeks before he was set to take to the stage.

The Stay Awake hitmaker, real name Elliot John Gleave, was due to perform in Aberdeen on 18 February (13) but he's cancelled the concert after reportedly struggling to sell tickets.

Example had allegedly sold just 1,500 tickets for the date at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Center, which has an 8,500 capacity.

He says, "It is with great regret that I have had to cancel my show at Aberdeen this February due to circumstances beyond my control. Everybody is obviously entitled to a full refund and you'll still be able to see me at Rockness (festival) where I'm one of the headline acts!"

A rep for the venue adds, "Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Center would like to advise that the cancellation of the Example gig scheduled to take place at the Venue on the 18th February 2013 has been cancelled by the artist and management not by the AECC.

"We regret that Example’s fans are disappointed that the artist has decided to cancel this gig and hope that he may return to play at the Venue in the future."
