Emma Stone and mom back cancer campaign

Actress Emma Stone has teamed up with her mother to raise awareness of early cancer detection in a new public service advertisement.

The Help star can be seen embracing her mom Krista, a breast cancer survivor, in a new black-and-white shot for Revlon's Your Lips Can Save Lives campaign.

The advert, shot by fashion photographer Steven Klein, stresses the importance of regular screenings in the fight against the deadly disease, and Stone insists it was "hugely emotional" to pose for the portrait since early detection saved Krista's life.

She tells USA Today, "It was so wonderful and special. She still has surgeries to go, and that time period is always kind of present still. So doing that (photoshoot) was just - she's here. We're here together as mother and daughter.

"It was hugely emotional, and I think everyone on set knew that and was hugely supportive of that."
