El DeBarge joining race for Christmas charts

Veteran R&B singer El Debarge is set to serve up a Christmas treat for fans by becoming the latest artist to release a holiday album.

The Who's Johnny hitmaker reveals he will be helping devotees get into the festive spirit this season with a disc full of Christmas tunes, joining the likes of Broadway star Idina Menzel, country singers LeAnn Rimes, Darius Rucker and Sara Evans and funk/soul group Earth, Wind & Fire, who will all compete for holiday song sales.

The Christmas album, the title of which has yet to be revealed, is the first of two projects DeBarge is planning to unveil, along with a romantic follow up to 2010's Second Chance.

During an appearance on daytime show The Talk on Tuesday (28Oct14), he says, "You can expect a brand new CD from me... but it'll be coming out really soon. One's for the holidays... but also, the other one is to get your grown man and grown woman on (sic)."
