Eddie Redmayne performs magic trick with Benedict Cumberbatch

Eddie Redmayne lived up to his new big screen role as a wizard by performing a magic trick with Benedict Cumberbatch on TV.

The Oscar-winning actor was on The Graham Norton Show on Friday night (28Oct16) alongside Doctor Strange star Benedict and Breaking Bad actor Bryan Cranston, when he was quizzed about his love for magic.

The 34-year-old appears as writer Newt Scamander in new movie Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, J.K. Rowling's latest installment in her wizarding world saga.

Referencing his new magical role, host Graham asked Eddie if he was a member of the mysterious Magic Circle, a British organization dedicated to promoting magic.

Nearly spitting out his water with laughter, the star confessed he was not a member, but had been a huge fan of the late magician Paul Daniels when he was younger.

"I loved the late Paul Daniels. He was an amazing magician who would be on telly every Saturday night. I was obsessed with him," Eddie said.

Goaded by Graham into performing a magic trick, he roped in fellow guest Bryan, getting him to blow on a colouring book that then magically filled with images.

Turning to Benedict, Eddie eagerly exclaimed, "This is my moment to be on television doing magic! Ben, are you ready?"

"I'm ready," Benedict cheerfully agreed, before blowing on the colouring book. However, the trick didn't work, leading Eddie to pull out a wand prop.

Benedict then channeled his superhero talents as Doctor Strange and tapped the book with the wand, filling Eddie's magic book with colorful images. "I spent months learning to do that!" he exclaimed. "Months!"

"Burn them! Burn them!" host Graham joked.

Marvel's Doctor Strange is in cinemas now, and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is set to be released on 18 November (16).
