Ed Sheeran has been feted with a stage named in his honour at a U.K. music festival.

The A Team hitmaker played at Ipswich Music Day in 2009 and 2010 at the start of his career, and now the platform he performed on has been renamed the Ed Sheeran Stage in recognition of his huge success.

Sheeran insists he feels "privileged" to add the tribute to his list of accolades, adding, "I remember playing at the event a few years ago and it was great fun."

Organisers of the annual event in Suffolk, England, which will take place this year on 7 July (13), said the dedication was to mark the "importance of encouraging young talent".

The festival is held close to Sheeran's hometown of Framlingham.
