Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson open to presidential run

Wrestler turned actor Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is open to running for U.S. President in the future.

The San Andreas star shared an article from on Twitter website Independent Journal listing the reasons he should join the race to succeed current leader Barack Obama.

Dwayne gave the article, which referred to an online campaign to convince him to run as an independent candidate in November's (16) presidential election, the thumbs up and hinted he might consider a White House run.

"Cool piece on why I should run for President," he wrote. "Maybe one day. Surely the White House has a spot for my pick up truck."

A post on the website promoting the campaign to convince the super-fit star to run reads, "We seek to convince Dwayne Johnson to consider coming to our nation's rescue by running for President as an independent. We need a leader who will inspire. A leader who understands adversity, but embodies determination, power, and accomplishment."

If Dwayne does decide to mount a presidential campaign one day, he may have to compete against hip hop star Kanye West, who announced he wanted America's top job in a speech at last year's (15) American Music Awards.

Although many assumed that the rapper's presidential declaration was a stunt, Kanye's wife Kim Kardashian told chat show host Ellen DeGeneres her husband was sincere about becoming leader.

“He’s serious. And I know that if he puts his mind to something, he’ll do his best,” she said.

One famous name who did convert his celebrity into a successful White House campaign was Ronald Reagan, who used his acting career as a platform to take up politics, leading America from 1981 to 1989.
