Drake scores government funding for OVO Fest

Rapper Drake has received the official seal of approval for his annual music festival in his native Toronto, Canada after landing a $300,000 government grant.

The Started From The Bottom hitmaker will headline the two-day 5th Annual OVO Fest with reunited hip-hop duo OutKast this August (14), and now the event has been given a big financial boost from Ontario officials at the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport.

The money was granted via the province's Celebrate Ontario program, which aims to boost tourism in the area by providing funding for "new or existing Ontario festivals and events" to sustain growth over a long period of time.

Other local events to receive financial help from the government include the Toronto Film Festival and the Rogers Cup tennis tournament.
