Drake makes peace with Tory Lanez

Drake has cleared the air with his former rap rival Tory Lanez after trading subliminal lyrical jabs at one another for the past two years.

The Hotline Bling hitmaker took fans by surprise on Thursday (18May17) when he posted a photo of himself with fellow Toronto, Canada native Tory on Instagram, and suggested they had made amends.

"The city needs more of this and less of that," Drake captioned the image, hinting at the need for unity instead of rivalry.

Lanez shared the same shot of the two rappers on his social media page, and simply wrote, "Toronto".

The get-together put an end to their reported feud, which Drake is long thought to have referenced in his song Summer Sixteen, on which he spits, "All you boys in the new Toronto want to be me a little."

He fueled the rumors last summer (16) during a concert in Austin, Texas, where he switched up the line and appeared to take aim at Lanez for releasing his own remix of Drake's Controlla hit, by rapping: "All you boys with a fake Controlla wanna be me a little."

Tory subsequently addressed the low-key concert diss, insisting he doesn't have a "personal problem" with Drake, although he acknowledged the tension between the two stars.

"We can't share first place, and I'm the only guy that's bold enough to come and really take that right now," he explained on New York radio station Hot 97.
