Drake chasing first edition Harry Potter book

Rapper Drake has been eager to get his hands on a first edition copy of Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone for the past four years.

The Jumpman hitmaker admitted he's a big fan of author J.K. Rowling's boy wizard novels in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, released on Wednesday (08Nov17), and revealed he was pondering purchasing one which had just gone up for sale for $160,000 as an early birthday present for himself.

"I read them all," Drake said, before sharing his shopping plans for the first installment of Rowling's book franchise. "I should get it. My birthday's coming up. Maybe I'll buy it for myself as a treat."

It's not known if the star did end up snagging the first edition copy of the book, known as Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone outside of the U.S., as Drake celebrated his 31st birthday on 24 October (17).

However, he can certainly afford to do so - in September (17), he was named the second highest-paid hip-hop artist of 2017 on Forbes magazine's annual list, with earnings of $94 million , trailing Sean 'Diddy' Combs who placed at number one with $130 million .

Meanwhile, first edition Harry Potter books aren't the only things Drake collects. The star, who has previously been romantically linked to Rihanna and Jennifer Lopez, told The Hollywood Reporter he is also storing pricey Birkin bags as a future gift for "the woman I end up with".
