Diego Luna: 'I'm not letting a wall get in between me and America'

Mexican actor Diego Luna won't let President Donald Trump's proposed wall between Mexico and the U.S. stop him traveling between both countries.

The Rogue One: A Star Wars Story actor was asked about Trump's pledge to build a wall on the border of Mexico and America at the opening of the Berlin Film Festival in Germany on Thursday (09Feb17).

“The only positive thing is that there has to be a reaction and I want to be part of that," he said, according to Deadline.com. "I want to send a message that love is the only way to fight hate. I cross that border three or four times a month. I have so many love stories in the States and I’m not going to let any wall get in between me and my love stories.”

He also made reference to the Berlin Wall, which divided East and West Germany from 1961 to 1989, although demolition wasn't completed until 1992.

“I’m here to investigate how to tear down walls,” he said. “Apparently there are a lot of experts here and I want to bring that information back to Mexico.”

Luna is in Berlin to serve on the film festival jury alongside Maggie Gyllenhaal and jury president Paul Verhoeven. The event runs until 19 February (17).
