Demi Lovato offers to help charity after President Trump's immigration decision

Demi Lovato has reached out to a Latino youth organization to see how she can help after President Donald Trump rescinded a program that helps immigrants.

It was recently announced that Trump would end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which gave immigrants who were brought to the country as a child the temporary right to live, study and work legally.

Many celebrities have been critical of the decision on social media, but Demi has gone one step further and is looking to see how she can get involved with a charity that helps young Latinos.

She has told The Associated Press that she got in touch with her ex-boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama, who she split from in 2016 after six years, to see how she could help with the non-profit organization Voto Latino, which empowers young Latinos to be agents of change and get politically involved.

"I work with Voto Latino sometimes and I contacted Wilmer, who's part of the organization. I contacted him and said, 'What can I do to help?' So we're going to try to figure something out," she said.

She explained why she wanted to do more, adding, "I genuinely believe that this (Trump's DACA decision) is just a race problem and I think that it's something (that) is just not right, and we need to stand up for the things we believe in... All I can do is post on Twitter and text my senators on the Resistbot and raise the awareness as much as I can. But I feel kind of helpless."

Cher, Camila Cabello and Fifth Harmony's Lauren Jauregui have all spoken out about the DACA decision, and they were joined by Alicia Keys on Thursday, who shared two pictures of her sons playing on Twitter and wrote, "All Children should have a field of dreams to play in... They should be safely wrapped in the security of the endless potential within them... They should be free to laugh and live without walls, borders, bans or repeals #DefendDACA #IStandWithTheDreamers #DACA #WeAreHere."
