Demi Lovato insists she isn't copying anyone with lion tattoo

Demi Lovato has brushed off suggestions she copied fellow pop star Justin Bieber and model/actress Cara Delevingne with her new lion tattoo.

The Cool for the Summer hitmaker celebrated her inclusion on Time's 100 Most Influential People of 2017 list at the magazine's annual gala in New York City on Tuesday (25Apr17), and decided to mark the occasion by paying a late night visit to celebrity tattoo artist Keith 'Bang Bang' McCurdy to have the back of her hand inked.

She documented the creative process on her Snapchat and Instagram profiles, and showed off the finished artwork in a selfie, in which she held her left hand across her face to show off her new artwork.

Fans were quick to weigh in on the latest addition to Demi's collection of skin art, which includes two large roses on her wrist and a dream catcher on her rib cage, but some critics claimed the design was too similar to those modeled by Bieber and Delevingne, among others.

Responding to the comparisons, she tweeted, "You can't get a tattoo these days without someone saying you've copied someone or you're 'matching' someone. That's not the case folks."

She has yet to explain the meaning behind the lion tattoo, but her loyal followers on social media instantly jumped to her defense.

"Who the f**k cares if you Have the same tattoo as someone else you're Demi Lovato you're a goddess your better than everyone (sic)," wrote one devotee.

"Honestly Demi Lovato rocks that tattoo better than anyone," shared another, as a third fan posted, "Demi Lovato is so bada**, a hand tattoo has never looked so good this is dope (sic)".

Bang Bang is the same artist behind Bieber's lion tattoo on his chest, which he debuted last month (Mar17), while Suicide Squad star Cara was among the first to have him ink a much smaller version of the big cat design on the back of her index finger in 2013.
