Demi Lovato and her ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas are teaming up to raise funds for the victims of Hurricane Harvey.

The Cool for the Summer singer, Jonas' band DNCE and his brother Nick, who toured with Demi last year (16), have partnered with online charity site Crowdrise to launch a new initiative to support the Houston Food Bank.

And to make a start on the fundraising effort, Demi pledged $50,000 (GBP39,000) to aid those affected by the Texas storms, which has ravaged huge areas of the state.

"The effect of Hurricane Harvey is heartbreaking," she writes on Twitter. "@nickjonas, @dnce, @Philymack, & I partnered with @crowdrise to support @HoustonFoodBank. I’m kicking this off with a $50k donation... Please help if you can. Promise you every dollar and prayer helps! We love you Houston."

Nick added: "Been working on ways we can help, so @ddlovato @DNCE @Philymack & I are partnering with @CrowdRise to help raise money for @HoustonFoodBank. I’ve donated already and would love for your help in donating what you can too. Praying for you Houston."

Several celebrities including Sandra Bullock, Kevin Hart, Chris Brown, Jennifer Lopez, and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson have stepped forward to lend their support and donate millions collectively to the relief efforts.
