David Beckham launching global book signing with new technology

David Beckham is using brand new technology to bring him closer to fans as he releases his new book.

The soccer hero has joined forces with Facebook.com to give his devotees the chance to receive his digital signature from around the globe.

Beckham has invited fans from major cities including London, New York, Sao Paulo in Brazil, and Hyderabad in India to register in a bid to be involved in the event, which will be broadcast live via the star's own page on the social networking site at the end of the month (Oct13).

Taking to his page to announce the project, he writes, "I am really excited to announce that on Wednesday 30th October I will be giving you the chance to take part in a unique event. In partnership with Facebook, I want to do a truly global signing to coincide with the launch of my new book. If you are in London, New York, Sao Paulo or Hyderabad you can enter to win a ticket to take part in these events and receive a personalised digital signature from me via ground breaking technology."

The eponymous tome will look back at the Brit's glittering career on the pitch following his retirement from soccer earlier this year (13).
