David Beckham has landed a timely new deal as the new brand ambassador for Swiss watchmakers Tudor.

The retired soccer star, model and actor joins New Zealand rugby star Beauden Barrett as the new faces of the company.

"Daring individuals have long chosen Tudor while achieving the extraordinary on land, ice, in the air and underwater," a spokesman for Tudor says. "The Tudor Born To Dare spirit is... supported globally by ambassadors whose life achievements directly result from a daring approach to life. David Beckham is one of them and Tudor is proud to welcome him to its family."

"Mr. Beckham is one of the world's most recognizable faces, and his post-footballing modeling has typically concentrated on brands that fit with his rugged, fashion-conscious, British image. The right watch, Mr. Beckham says, is an important lifestyle decision," reads a press release confirming the new deal.

"As an Englishman, I think you really appreciate a nice suit and a nice watch. They go very well together," Beckham adds.

The retired sportsman has been a longtime Rolex watch collector and he was previously a brand ambassador for Breitling.

"I was attracted to Tudor by the attention to detail I could see in their watches," he says. "I then learned about the history of the brand. One of adventure, pioneer diving and daring expeditions. I was instantly hooked."
