David Beckham chaperoned eldest son on his first date

Victoria and David Beckham's eldest son Brooklyn was left red-faced during his very first date because his soccer star father served as his chaperone.

The retired sportsman reveals his wife Victoria was not happy about son Brooklyn's plans to take a girl out alone on Valentine's Day (14Feb), so she insisted David accompany the young lovers to a restaurant and sit nearby.

A reluctant David did as he was told, but admits he felt bad for killing the romance on his first child's big night.

He explains, "He said, 'I wanna take this girl to dinner'. I said, 'OK, great', spoke to Victoria and she was like, 'Really?' So I said, 'Yeah, he's gonna do it', so she said, 'Make sure you take him and make sure you sit in the restaurant'.

"I said, 'Really? You're gonna make me do that?'. She said, 'Yep, that's the only way I'm gonna let him do that (go on a date)'. So we took him to a small sushi restaurant and he sat at the sushi bar and I sat about five tables back..."

Brooklyn Beckham has since been linked to actress Chloe Grace Moretz.

David and Victoria Beckham are also parents to three younger children, and the protective dad admits he won't hesitate to hover over his baby girl, Harper, once she reaches dating age.

He adds, "By the way, my daughter is four years old. When she gets to that age (teenage years), I will be closer than that!"
