Daniel Radcliffe was a pathetic drunk

Daniel Radcliffe gave up his quest to become an enigmatic drunk when he realized he wasn't as interesting as his hellraising heroes Gary Oldman and Richard Harris when under the influence of booze.

The young Harry Potter star gave up alcohol last year (11) after realising he wasn't much fun when he was drunk.

He tells Parade magazine, "I've worked with Richard Harris, Gary Oldman, all those actors who went crazy when they were young, and I always wanted that. The idea of that kind of life and chaos was always so appealing to me.

"Unfortunately, the way I do it, there is no romance to it. There is nothing glorious or triumphant about it. It was pathetic, boring, and unhappy."
