Damian Lewis joins campaign for daughter's school

Damian Lewis has thrown his support behind a campaign to stop building works next to his daughter's school in north London.

The Homeland actor and his wife, Harry Potter star Helen McCrory, are furious over plans to erect a large new home next to St Christopher's School in Belsize Park, where their six-year-old daughter Manon is a pupil.

Protesters claim the building work will be disruptive for the school and the new structure, which will feature a two-storey basement complex and a swimming pool, will overshadow the playground.

Damian Lewis and Helen McCrory joined other concerned parents at a planning hearing on Tuesday (05Mar13) to object to the proposal.

Local officials previously denied planning permission for the project, but the developers are now appealing against the decision.

Helen McCrory insists she is pleased the campaign has attracted so many supporters, saying, "It's amazing. You have hundreds of people complaining because someone wants to build a (house and a) swimming pool."
