Daft Punk Get Lucky at the Grammys

Written by . Published: January 27 2014

It was a good night to be a duo at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night (26Jan14) as Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Daft Punk took home nine trophies between them.

French stars Daft Punk were the night's big winners, picking up five awards, including Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Record Of The Year for Get Lucky and Album of the Year for Random Access Memories, while Macklemore & Ryan Lewis claimed four wins, including Best New Artist and Best Rap Album for The Heist.

They also performed the 56th Grammys' most amazing set, teaming up with Madonna and their Same Love collaborator Mary Lambert for a rendition of the gay rights anthem as Queen Latifah officiated a wedding ceremony for 33 gay, straight and interracial couples in the aisles of the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

It was also a great night for Paul McCartney, who shared the Best Rock Song award with his Cut Me Some Slack collaborators Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic & Pat Smear and shared in the success of his Live Kisses and Wings Over America projects, which picked up three more awards between them. He also took home a Lifetime Achievement Award for his part in the Beatles.

And Pharrell Williams, who was named Producer of the Year at the Grammys, took home a four awards haul, thanks to his work with Daft Punk. Justin Timberlake was a triple winner, while New Zealand teenager Lorde had an awards show to remember after her song Royals was named Best Pop Solo Performance and Song of the Year.
