Cop under investigation for Justin Bieber jail snap
A police officer in Miami, Florida has become the subject of an internal investigation after allegedly attempting to snap a photo of Justin Bieber behind bars last week (ends26Jan14).
The Baby hitmaker spent several hours in custody after he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI), resisting arrest without violence and driving with an expired license on 23 January (14), and one female cop has been accused of trying to take a picture of the singer while he was in a temporary holding cell.
The patrol officer, who had no connection to the case, had
reportedly wandered into the restricted area without permission and
was caught pulling out her cell phone by a sergeant. He stepped in
front of his colleague to block the shot and ordered her out of the
area before reporting her to Miami Beach Police Department chiefs
for "conduct unbecoming an officer", according to TMZ.com.
A full investigation has since been launched into the incident,
which could cost the unidentified cop her job.
Bieber has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is due to face the
counts in court on St. Valentine's Day (14Feb14).
The troubled star's antics in Florida also landed three other local
officers in trouble with bosses after allegedly giving the teen
superstar an unauthorised police escort from an airport to a strip
club three days before his DUI arrest. Last week (ends24Jan14), the
Opa-locka police force members were suspended with pay, pending the
outcome of an investigation into their actions.
Bieber is also facing legal action in his native Canada, where he
was officially charged on Wednesday (29Jan14) in connection with an
alleged assault on a limousine driver in Toronto last year
(Dec13).
