Coldplay and Mary J. Blige have scrapped plans to perform in Texas on Friday (25Aug17) due to hurricane warnings.

Coldplay were scheduled to hit the stage at the NRG Stadium, but postponed the show as Hurricane Harvey hurtles towards the state.

"We really wanted to play tonight, but sitting here all together watching the news about the storm we feel that we can't ask anyone to put their safety at risk," the bandmates wrote on Twitter. "So, sadly, we will have to postpone..."

The British rockers assured fans they would keep them up to date about a rescheduled concert.

Meanwhile, Blige's show at the Smart Financial Center at Sugar Land on Friday has also been postponed until 19 September (17).

They aren't the only artists to have gigs affected by the extreme weather - on Thursday (24Aug17), country stars Lady Antebellum pulled their planned performance in Houston on Sunday (27Aug17) as the storm strengthened.

The category three hurricane is expected to make landfall in Houston on Saturday morning (26Aug17).
