Cody Simpson chips tooth before iHeartRadio Awards

Cody Simpson had a red carpet dilemma on Sunday (03Apr16) when he chipped his tooth before the iHeartRadio Awards.

The Australian pop star was getting ready to grace the red carpet and pose for photographers outside The Forum in Inglewood, California when he damaged one of his pearly whites.

"When you chip ya tooth before the award show... SICKY," the 19-year-old wrote on Twitter. He did not explain how he managed to chip the tooth or which one it was, and kept his smile hidden while on the red carpet.

Cody, the ex-boyfriend of model Gigi Hadid, looked casual for the event in a baseball cap worn backwards, sunglasses, leather trousers, a white tee and a chambray denim shirt.

He released his recent album Free independently in 2015 after leaving Atlantic Records and has since told Australia's The Daily Telegraph he has formed a side band called Coast House with his California friends.

He also told Fuse.tv in October (15) he was relishing his newfound creative freedom as he no longer has work within the confines of a contract.

"When I first sort of freed myself from my prior situation with my label, I immediately had this creative burst of energy through the liberation that I had to create with no boundaries or limitations," he explained.

"I'm at an age where I'm sort of a different person every week, evolving very quickly every week, learning way more than I ever have, and been very focused and motivated. Because I have a very clear vision for my future and I'm very optimistic about it too."
