Chris Pratt skipped MTV Movie Awards to compete in triathlon

Actor Chris Pratt was a no-show at the 2015 MTV Movie Awards ceremony on Sunday (12Apr15) because he was competing in a triathlon in Florida.

The Guardians of the Galaxy star was nominated for five individual trophies at the prizegiving, but did not make it to the event at Los Angeles' Nokia Theater. Instead, he was in Haines City, competing in the half-IRONMAN race on behalf former Navy Seal and wounded veteran Mike Day.

Pratt triumphed at the intense competition, which included a 1.2-mile (1.9 km) swim, a 56-mile (90 km) bike ride, and a 13.1-mile (21.1 km) run, in seven hours, four minutes and 52 seconds.

Pratt showed off his medal in a snap posted on Twitter.com, and added, "Thank you to all the staff, smiling volunteers and spectators along the course at @IRONMANtri. What a day."
