Actor Chris Pratt was left shaken and stunned after a stunt drop went awry while he was filming Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2.

The Jurassic World star opted to step in for his stunt double and film one of the action sequences, in which the 37-year-old had to drop to the ground from the air while he was suspended horizontally, but the stunt did not go well after they dropped the actor at the wrong speed.

"There was one mishap, I got knocked out," he told Live! with Kelly and Ryan on Monday (01May17). "I was, like, 15 feet in the air and a lot of times what they'll do is they'll rehearse the stunt with the stunt team. So you'll walk in and there's a scene where my character and another character embrace horizontal to the ground and 15 feet in the air. You're hung by wires so you're kind of planking and then they drop us and we're going to land on a mat."

Chris was initially hesitant to perform the stunt, but the production team assured him it wouldn't be at the speed he was seeing the stunt team do it.

"I saw it and I thought, 'That's very fast,' and, 'Shouldn't you slow that down?' And they said, 'It's going to be half that speed'..." he continued. "So when we did the stunt they, I guess accidentally, did double the speed so they essentially just dropped us from midair and I flew down. I was heading towards the ground and I have a bad elbow, so I thought that I better just take it in my shoulder and avoid my head so I don't crush the stuntman with my gargantuan head... So I just turn this way and I just bounced my face off the mat."

The actor was left stunned, but continued filming because he didn't want to have to redo the stunt.

"I saw a flash of yellow and kind of tasted like, smoke in my mouth and then I came up and as I came to (I saw the camera) zooming past me and I realized if I don't do this scene right now, I'm going to have to do this stunt again," he added. "So I kind of stayed in the moment and kept on going and then they yelled, 'Cut,' and everyone rushed over to me and I was (out of it). There was little birds flying around my head (sic)."
