Chris Pratt backs Tom Holland's Oscar dream

Chris Pratt is confident Tom Holland has what it takes to win an Oscar.

Both actors are part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Chris the lead, Peter Quill/Star-Lord, in Guardians of the Galaxy, and Marvel new boy Tom the latest star to tackle the part of Spider-Man.

Chris, who shocked fans when he announced his split from wife Anna Faris in the early hours of Monday morning (07Aug17), has shared he has total faith in English actor Tom, and is backing his dream of winning an Academy Award.

“It’s been great to work on Avengers Infinity with (Tom) - he told me on set about his 10-year plan to win an Oscar, and for me he is more than capable of that,” the 38-year-old told British newspaper Metro.

Tom, 21, previously opened up to his Spider-Man co-star Zendaya about his Oscar ambition, and stated he saw himself winning one within the next 15 years

"The 20-year goal is to be a film director. The 15-year goal is to win an Oscar. The five-year goal is to just keep enjoying myself," he told her in a chat for Interview magazine.

While Tom has the support of Chris behind him, one co-star who doesn’t rate his chances is Anthony Mackie.

The Hurt Locker star has been part of The Avengers crowd since 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, playing Sam Wilson/Falcon. During a recent chat with Stephen Colbert, Anthony, who relentlessly pokes fun at his younger co-star, took aim once again.

“It’s just a problem. I mean look at that guy. He’s a wildly annoying person. It’s impressive,” 38-year-old Anthony joked to the chat show host.“Everything (about Holland is annoying). He’s so little like a Shih Tzu.

“He’s one of those kids that when you tell him to shut up, he shuts up. But when you leave he starts right back talking. You’re gone and he’s texting you like ‘Hey, where’d you go?’”

Avengers: Infinity War is due for release in May (18).
