Chris Kirkpatrick felt too old for 'N SYNC routine
Chris Kirkpatrick was left exhausted and drenched with sweat during rehearsals for 'N Sync's performance at the MTV Video Music Awards, admitting it was a struggle to keep up with his super-fit former bandmate Justin Timberlake.
The group hit the studio in secret to brush up on their old dance moves ahead of the New York prizegiving, where Timberlake was saluted for his career with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
Fans were thrilled when 'N SYNC hit the stage at the VMAs to
perform a medley of their hits Bye Bye Bye, Girlfriend, and Gone,
but 41 year old Kirkpatrick admits the fast-paced routine was
demanding now that he is a retired pop star.
He tells Florida radio show Johnny's House, "Honestly, when he
(Timberlake) talked to us I thought we were just coming out with
mic stands and singing, and when I came home from rehearsals my
girl's like 'Why are you drenched?' I'm like, I'm too old for
this... When we were doing rehearsals in Miami I was scared to
death. I was so worried about not messing up for him."
The singer insists reforming with his four friends served as a
reminder of why they don't get along: "It was funny because all of
us getting back together, we remembered what we love about each
other and what we hate about each other."
