Captain America star Chris Evans has maintained his crown as the Best Actor for the Buck in Hollywood.

The Avengers actor landed atop the annual Forbes list in 2015, and he is continuing to dominate the competition this year (16) as the most profitable investment for studio bosses.

Chris returned $135.80 at the box office for every $1 he was paid, based on the takings of his last three movies on wide-release in the 12 months until June (16).

It didn't hurt that all three projects were Marvel blockbusters - Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Captain America: Civil War.

His huge success as the comic book superhero placed him just ahead of Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World star Chris Pratt, who brings in $125.40 for every $1 he receives in salary.

Evans' fellow Avenger Scarlett Johansson is the highest-placed actress on the list, although she is a distant third place with returns of $88.60 for each $1 she is paid, despite starring in both Age of Ultron and Civil War.

Bad Moms star Mila Kunis and Pratt's Guardians of the Galaxy castmate Vin Diesel land at numbers four and five, respectively, while Jennifer Aniston, Ben Affleck, Robert Downey, Jr., Matt Damon, and Jennifer Lawrence make up the rest of the top 10.

The 10 Best Actors for the Buck in Hollywood poll emerges a week after Forbes analysts named and shamed Johnny Depp as the most overpaid actor for the second year running. He returned just $2.80 at the box office for every $1 he was paid.

Depp wasn't the only big name on the countdown - Will Smith claimed the number two and Channing Tatum placed third.
