Chris Daughtry to judge American Idol - report

Rocker Chris Daughtry is returning to American Idol - as a judge.
The Daughtry frontman was a contestant on the show in 2009 and now he's planning to impart knowledge to a new generation of wannabes when the TV talent show returns for a brand new season on ABC.
The news comes days after Idol's first winner Kelly Clarkson reportedly snubbed an offer to return to the show that made her famous in favor of a coaching role on rival show The Voice.
Daughtry is the third most successful Idol contestant, behind Clarkson and Carrie Underwood.
Reports suggest Katy Perry is circling one of the other judge positions on the revamped Idol.
