Chris Brown cancels Jakarta show over 'safety concerns'
Singer Chris Brown has canceled his upcoming concert in Jakarta, Indonesia due to "safety concerns", hours after reports surfaced he was banned from leaving the Philippines on his current Asian tour.
The Kiss Kiss hitmaker was slated to visit the city on Saturday (25Jul15), but he has postponed a planned gig there via Twitter.com.
He writes: "Due to safety concerns my show on July 25th will be
rescheduled! Let's keep spreading love around the world!
#Pray4Peace."
Promoters for the concert have also confirmed the cancellation
news, revealing Brown's representatives have yet to determine a new
date for the show.
A statement reads: "Reasons of security factors that cause delays,
we received directly from Chris Brown... We as promoters apologize
profusely for the incident that really is beyond our control."
The news comes after Brown was reportedly stopped by officials from
the Philippine Department of Justice at Ninoy Aquino International
Airport as her attempted to catch a flight to Hong Kong on
Wednesday morning (22Jul15), following a show in Manila.
According to the Philippines News Agency, Brown was detained so he
could answer questions about allegedly skipping a New Year's Eve
gig (31Dec14) in Manila. Promoters of the concert were reportedly
granted an order to bar Brown from leaving the country until he
paid back money he owed them.
The R&B star later took to Twitter to blast the reports,
insisting the situation was merely confusion between his talent
agent and the Filipino concert promoters, adding he hoped the
situation would be "resolved shortly."
Brown has since deleted the tweets.
