New mum Cheryl fully supports boyfriend Liam Payne's decision to temporarily move to Los Angeles to work on his music career.

The popstar couple became parents last month (Mar17), when Cheryl, 33, gave birth to a son.

One Direction star Liam, 23, is the only member of the boyband yet to release solo material, but he’s busy working on his debut record and has flown out to America to complete it.

And despite being away from home, Liam gets the full backing of his other half.

"Cheryl has always been supportive of Liam's career and understands he has to be away for work,” a representative for the singer told Britain's Daily Star newspaper.

"It's not a problem Liam being in L.A. - they are constantly in touch. She wants his solo career to be a huge success."

A source close to the couple also told the publication that the loved-up new parents are in constant contact and often use Apple's FaceTime video chat to stay in touch.

"Cheryl knows Liam's solo career means the world to him," the insider said. "They FaceTime a minimum of three times a day, talk on the phone, WhatsApp or e-mail all the time."

Despite his bid for solo success, Liam is embracing fatherhood. Not long after his little one was born Liam told fans on Instagram the birth of his child was "a moment that I will never forget for the rest of my life and my favourite memory I have so far".

The couple are yet to reveal what they have named their new arrival. They went public with their romance last February (16), not long after Cheryl split from her second husband Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini.
