Channing Tatum didn't expect wife to fall pregnant on first try

Actor Channing Tatum feared he had taken on too many projects at once after learning his wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum had fallen pregnant while he was in the middle of shooting four movies in the space of 18 months.

The Magic Mike star reveals they decided to try for a baby in 2012, when he had signed up to appear in back-to-back films White House Down, Foxcatcher, Jupiter Ascending and 22 Jump Street, but the quick conception caught Tatum by surprise.

The movie hunk admits he had brushed off concerns about working so hard in such a short period of time, but when he found out he was set to become a first-time dad as well, he worried the demands on his time would be too much to handle.

He tells GQ magazine, "I feel like I was definitely the fat kid at the buffet (when he received the movie offers). There were four really great projects, and I was (like), 'I wanna do them all.'

"(His advisors were) like, 'You know doing four movies back-to-back is going to kill you?' and I'm (like), 'Yeah, but that's something I can take. That's just going to be tiring, and tired doesn't kill you.' (I had) zero breaks.

"(But then) we had sort of a crazy, harebrained idea to try and have a kid, and it happened the first time, basically. I don't think we thought it all the way through."

However, baby daughter Everly was born last spring (13) and Tatum insists he has no regrets about their road to parenthood, saying, "We were happy as hell about it."

And he adds of his hectic work schedule: "I get one shot at life, and I can say that I've lived a crazy one, and I've pushed the limit almost at every turn. I'm super proud of that."
