Chance the Rapper screams in excitement over Beyonce encounter
Hip-hop star Chance The Rapper lost his cool at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday (28Aug16) after Beyonce crashed one of his interviews backstage.
The Chicago, Illinois native was chatting to MTV News reporter Meredith Graves behind the scenes at the Madison Square Garden prizegiving in New York, when the Formation superstar walked up to her friend and hugged him from behind.
Chance initially appeared unfazed by the on-camera encounter, but
once he realised the mystery fan was Beyonce, he began screaming in
excitement as he jumped up and down.
"Oh my God, that was 'Yonce," he exclaimed, before dashing over to
greet the singer.
"This my life," Chance gushed in amazement after the brief
interaction was over.
He has since happily relived the stunning surprise online by
reposting multiple messages and gifs of his Beyonce meeting on
Twitter.
Chance was among the celebrity fans left in awe of Beyonce's
show-stopping VMAs set as she performed a medley of songs from her
hit album Lemonade on Sunday.
The R&B superstar led all nominees heading into the MTV VMAs
with 11 nods and, as expected, she ruled over the awards, walking
away with eight prizes, including the coveted Video of the Year and
Best Pop Video for Formation, and Best Female Video for Hold
Up.
The multiple victories helped Beyonce break the record for most
VMAs ever with 24 wins to her name, surpassing the previous title
holder Madonna, who has a total of 20 Moonman trophies.
