Carly Rae Jepsen makes Broadway debut
Canadian pop star Carly Rae Jepsen stepped into the shoes of Cinderella for her first night on Broadway on Tuesday (04Feb14).
The Call Me Maybe hitmaker replaced original cast member, Tony Award winner Laura Osnes, as the fairytale character in the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical.
The star was counting down the days to her debut on her Twitter.com
page, writing before the curtain went up, "No more sleeps!!!!!
Tonight's the night", while her co-star Fran Drescher documented
the countdown by posting backstage pictures for fans.
In one shot, The Nanny star is seen in costume with Jepsen throwing
coins into a prop wishing well, adding, "Right b4 (before) curtain
we both made a wish in the wishing well. Carly Rae Jepsen... whata
nite (sic)!"
The 28-year-old pop star, who underwent musical theatre training in
her native Canada, will tread the boards on the Great White Way for
a limited 12-week run alongside Drescher, who plays Cinderella's
evil stepmother.
