The 24 year old shot to fame in last year's (09) An Education and is rumoured to have signed up to star in an upcoming remake of My Fair Lady.
But Carey Mulligan is hoping to take more supporting roles in her future career.
She tells Interview magazine, "I don't think I want to play title roles. I don't want to be the face on the poster. I don't want the pressure of having a film's success ride on my shoulders.
"I just want to play the most interesting parts and it's increasingly rare to get an interesting female character that is the lead in a film. An Education was an exception - parts like that are so rare."
