Carey Mulligan and Will Smith take home top prizes at Hollywood Film Awards
Carey Mulligan and Will Smith were honored with top acting prizes at the 2015 Hollywood Film Awards on Sunday night (01Nov15).
The British star was awarded the Hollywood Actress accolade for her role in women's rights drama Suffragette, and Smith won the actor counterpart for his role in upcoming sports thriller Concussion.
Sex change drama The Danish Girl also scored wins for director Tom
Hooper and Alicia Vikander, who was named Breakout Actress. Vin
Diesel's action movie Furious 7 also picked up two prizes, for
Hollywood Blockbuster and Hollywood Song for See You Again by Wiz
Khalifa featuring Charlie Puth.
Benicio Del Toro won the Supporting Actor award for Sicario, while
Jane Fonda picked up the actress equivalent for Youth, and
Australian star Joel Edgerton was dubbed Breakout Actor for his
portrayal of real life FBI agent John Connolly in the Whitey Bulger
biopic Black Mass.
The stars of Quentin Tarantino's upcoming western The Hateful
Eight, including Samuel L. Jackson and Kurt Russell, were awarded
the Ensemble prize while the cast of N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta
Compton were named Breakout Ensemble.
Other winners include Amy Schumer for Comedy, and Inside Out for
Animation. The Amy Winehouse documentary also won a prize.
Robert De Niro was also honored with a career achievement award
during the ceremony in Beverly Hills.
