Rapper Cardi B accused a New York police officer of putting her in a "choke hold" in a now-deleted Twitter post.

The Bodak Yellow rapper, who has received several nods in this year's BET Hip Hop Awards nominations, made the dramatic claim on Tuesday evening (19Sep17).

Although the post has since disappeared from her official account, screen shots online show the tweet, which read, “I can’t believe this cop put me on a choke hole just now... these NY cops don’t know how to do they job."

When one follower responded with, "I bet the cops were white," Cardi - who grew up in the South Bronx area of New York City - appeared to respond, "YEUP (sic) HE WAS," in another deleted message.

While she failed to expand on the situation leading up to the event, Mirror Online has been in touch with the New York Police Department and a spokesperson has denied the claims made.

"The NYPD was made aware of a Tweet made by rapper Cardi B, which was since deleted, and indicated an alleged interaction between the NYPD and her," the official stated.

"The NYPD has no record or any other information to support the validity of this claim."

This accusation comes after Cardi, real name Belcalis Almanzar, has spoken out several times against law enforcement, sharing her support for American footballer Colin Kaepernick's battle against police brutality last month and calling out cops in Houston before a concert she performed in June 2016, writing, "Stop telling me to be safe .Its not the people killin (sic) people is the cops."
