Cara Delevingne signs on for fairy role in new fantasy series

Top model-turned-actress Cara Delevingne has joined fellow Brit Orlando Bloom for a new TV fantasy series.

The pair will star in Amazon's Carnival Row.

Bloom will play a police inspector in a neo-Victorian city investigating the death of a fairy refugee, while Cara will play a mythical creature called Vignette Stonemoss.

Paul McGuigan will direct the eight-part series, which will begin shooting in Prague, Czech Republic later this year (17).

The project, which is scheduled to air in 2019, will mark both Bloom and Delevingne's first major TV roles.

Cara is very much in demand in Hollywood circles at the moment after recently wrapping Life in A Year, in which she plays a dying cancer victim.

She also stars opposite Dane Dehaan in Luc Besson's ambitious Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, which flopped upon its release in America earlier this summer (17), but is now doing well internationally, thanks in part to the film's box office success in China.

Delevingne will also be seen in upcoming films Fever Heart, London Fields, and Tulip Fever.
